Yes. Hiring an SEO agency in India is safe if you check five things first: who works on your account, who owns your accounts, how links are built, how you’ll be reported to, and whether their proof can be verified. Most bad experiences with offshore SEO come from skipping those checks, not from the country.
We’re an Indian agency, so we have an obvious interest here. We’ll give you the checklist anyway, including the parts that make agencies like ours look bad.
Why businesses in the US, Canada, the UK, and Australia hire Indian agencies
The main reason is cost because Indian providers typically charge $15–$75 an hour, compared with $100–$200 for US-based providers.
The second reason is capacity. Many small Western agencies quietly outsource their SEO delivery to India already, so buying direct cuts out the middle layer.
The real risks
The risks are real, and you should know them before you sign:
- Spammy link building that can earn a Google penalty years later
- No named person on your account, just a support inbox
- Accounts created in the agency’s name, so you lose your Google Business Profile or analytics if you leave
- Fake proof: invented case studies, borrowed screenshots, made-up reviews
- Slow replies caused by time-zone gaps
None of these risks is specific to India. You’ll find every one of them at cheap agencies in Toronto and London too. The cheaper end of the offshore market just has more of them.
The five-question checklist
| Ask this | A good answer | A red flag |
|---|---|---|
| Who works on my account, and for how many hours a month? | A name and a number | “Our team” |
| Whose name are the accounts in? | Yours, always | Theirs, or a vague answer |
| How do you build links? | A list of real sites, shared monthly | “Proprietary network” |
| What will I see each month? | Your own Search Console and analytics access | PDF reports only |
| Can I talk to a past client? | Yes, or published data you can check | Testimonials with no names |
If an agency guarantees “#1 in 30 days”, stop there. Nobody controls Google’s rankings, and making that promise tells you they’re either inexperienced or dishonest.
Time zones: less of a problem than people expect
The UK overlaps almost fully with Indian working hours. A 9am call in London is 1:30pm in India. North America works if the agency runs an evening shift. We work 6:30pm to 1:00am IST, which is 9:00am to 3:30pm Eastern. Australia is the hardest fit, and early calls or async updates work best there.
Ask any agency what their hours are in your time zone. If they can’t answer immediately, you’ll be waiting overnight for every reply.
What a fair price looks like
A fair price for a small business is around USD 300–500 per month, with a named strategist. Below about $300 a month, you’re usually paying for automated reports and very little human work.
See our work
We’ve told you to check an agency’s proof before you sign, so here’s ours. You can browse our portfolio of client projects and see the work for yourself. If any project interests you, ask us about it on your first call. A good agency is happy to walk you through its work.
Frequently asked questions
Are Indian SEO agencies cheaper?
Usually, yes. The cost difference is the main reason offshore SEO exists. Whether a real person is accountable for your results matters more than the price.
Can an offshore agency get my site penalised?
Any agency can, onshore or offshore, if it buys low-quality links. Ask to see every link built each month.
Will they understand my local market?
Ask for examples from your country. A good agency will research your competitors in your city. It won’t recycle a template.
Why is your website named after Jalandhar?
Because that’s where we are. Many of our overseas clients have family roots in this part of Punjab. We’d rather say that up front than hide it.
